Anyone else picking up the 8086k now that it is official?

I've been trying to talk myself out of putting together a new rig but just as i finished ordering some more water cooling parts to completely finish the x99 rig, I see that the 8086k rumors were true... 

 

4 ghz base, 5 ghz boost (stock) out of the box. Basically a binned 8700k, surely these things will be able to do 5.3ghz or more with proper cooling. 

 

I can definitely say that tomorrow Newegg will be getting another big order from me in preparation!

5.3ghz is not much of a difference from 5 ghz that most 8700k's are able to achieve.

6% difference is not enough to pay whatever extra theyre charging for it.

That's a good point, probably most people will go for the normal 8700k. 

 

This will probably hurt silicon lottery's sales though, since you pay a premium to them for a guaranteed 5 gHz + since many of the 8700k chips lately have been only (sarcasm) reaching 4.9 

 

I'm kind of at a point where it's more about the enjoyment of building than needing to save a bit here and there so I'll definitely pick one of these up, along with a delid/relid tool, Conductonaut, and one of those Rocketcool? Copper heat spreaders.

And if you look at the bottom of the sweepstakes info, looks like MSRP is $425 USD which is a steal compared to Silicon Lottery.

I'll see what street pricing is like but I doubt it'll make sense to buy it. Will try to remember to do the sweepstake though.
