How is it?

Edit: Uses would be gaming at max settings, heavy multitasking, some video editing, etc. Might do over clocking. Will get the H100i even if I don`t.

How is it? - good for the task mix you describe.

It depends on how much video editing you wish to  do as the current generation of CPUs won't have much effect on gaming or multitasking; especially if overclocked.

Little video editing 4560k/8320

Moderate video editing 4770k/8350

Professional video editing 4930k

4770k is fantastic. Runs hot, but you are already getting the H100i which is more then I have and my temps are fine.

You have two microcenters in texas. If one is close head to one and buy the bundle. They beat online prices by a metric @#%* ton.

http://www.microcenter.com/site/brands/intel-processor-bundles.aspx

If you live far? You can price match the 4770k for 249.99 through Staples Online live chat.

Most expensive combo I would get there is the Asus Z87-A. The MSI is fine if you aren't running Nvidia (NO SLI).  The motherboard pretty much means nothing for overclocking due to on die VRM. All that matters is the chip. Spend the money on GPU's. All you will get with the expensive MB's is looks.

Also check their open box video cards. Found a open box Gigabyte Windforcex3 GTX 770 there for 279.99 the other day with rebate, which is just stupidly low.

CPU:24/7-4770k @ 4.5ghz/4.0 cache @ 1.22V override, 1.776 VCCIN. MB: Z87-G41 PC Mate. Cooling: Hyper 212 evo push/pull. Ram: Gskill Ares 1600 CL9 @ 2133 1.56v 10-12-10-31-T1 150 TRFC. Case: HAF 912 stock fans (no LED crap). HD: Seagate Barracuda 1 TB. Display: Dell S2340M IPS. GPU: Sapphire Tri-x R9 290. PSU:CX600M OS: Win 7 64 bit/Mac OS X Mavericks, dual boot Hackintosh.

Gaming with max settings on a IGPU ? No way!

You would need a dedicated GPU.

dont't think hes talking about the iGPU....

Probably talking about not being bottlenecked.

I have the i7 4770. I love it :)

If you decide to pick it up too, you will love it.

how can u deal with the temps though also the is not a great OC chip :L

exactly what he said but i don;t understand why people don;t just get a 3770k which is such a better OC chip if u want to do that of course

What do you mean how do I deal with the temps? They don't exceed 75 degrees.

And it's not a K edition, so I don't care about overclocking potential.

fair enough, still it's haswell aha that's all you know what those chips are like with there cement for thermal transfer :P

It's a myth that Haswell is not a good overclocker. 70% can clock to 4.5GHz, 30% to 4.6GHz, 20% to 4.7GHz, 10% to 4.8GHz. Clock for clock Haswell is about 10% faster than Ivy Bridge. So even if a given Ivy Bridge chip can clock higher it has to be that much higher to actually outperform th Haswell.

I have one... it works.

It's small, about 2x1.5cm, looks like any other intel processor since the 775 era...

Mine works @4.6 rock stable, more details you can see on my build log in my sig.
