Hello,

I just modded my ZOTAC GTX 1060 3GB mini by taking off the plastic shroud and replacing the tiny fan on it with a 120mm case fan ziptied on to the top of the heatsink. Can anyone tell my why my temps are so much worse? I expected the opposite to happen. Can submit pictures of my card if needed.

1.) Center of the fan is effectively a dead zone so the heatsinnk under it gets almost no air

2.) Edges of the fan are overextended beyond the heatsink so they serve no purpose

3.) The shroud you removed was there to force the air trough the fins, removing it reduced the air pressure

4.) The fan that was there by default was smaller but more effective due to the way how it was designed... smaller deadzone in the center, shroud to help with the air pressure, static pressure fan

To me it looks like you have over tightened the zip ties resulting in bending the pcb and possibly separating the GPU die from the heatsink.
