I'm posting this again because last time didn't help at all. My HDD shows up in BIOS, but NOT in "Disk Manager" or "Devices and Drives". It does show up in "Device Management". (I'm using Windows 10)

I had a drive in my server that did this. I moved it to my desktop for testing. You could feel that it wasn't spinning. (which is normal if you set it to that power state when not accessed for a set period of time but this was not configured). It showed up in Device Manager (which meant the controller on the PCB was still working for the most part) however checking for it in DISKPART > list disk it wasn't there. I suspect the motor itself, something in between the motor and the controller, or the controller in charge of the motor failed.

 

RMA'd it to the manufacturer and less than a week later I had my replacement.
