Mainly reading books...and sometimes web browsing....

10 inch preferred

For just books and web browsing, wouldn't a Kindle Fire suffice? My older Kindle Fire 7 works well for those sorts of tasks, as well as music and videos.

i need something bigger with a good screen

I was thinking the Kindle Fire HD 10, but the Huawei tablet you linked looks decent. It doesn't have as good of a display as the Fire HD 10 though.

Fire HD 10 (Amazon)

looks nice...any other suggestion?

Not really, I haven't been big into tablets in the past few years. I still use an iPad 2 as my main tablet. The only reason I got the Fire 7 was due to the very low cost during Amazon's Prime Day sale. I do think I should start looking into a newer Android tablet though.

well usually i suggest the one i got , the sony z2 tablet, but its more expensive, if you can find it used or on a deal somewhere id still recommend it.

because one the most important parts if come to love about it is weight. if your gonna use it a lot holding it weight becomes more noticable and the z2 is one the most lightweight tablets out there still. but i mean you can go with whatever you think is best im just trying to say weight is something most people dont think about when shopping for a tablet or phone and its surprisingly important or at least noticable enough.

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"

iPad 2018 (might go into your budget with some deals).

And this is coming from an "android guy". Android is dead on tablets, sadly. I have used an Nexus 9 Tablet for almost a year, then i sold it and switched over to a Pixel C (with -25% dev coupon), and used it for whole 2 years. This April i finally sold it, to switch over to iOS with an iPad Pro.

One of the reasons was that Google confirmed the Pixel C not getting Android P this year (it would turn 3 years then).

iOS is SO much better optimized for tablet usage than Android, you really have to try both to see it. Split screen is much better on iOS, and so many other things. It lets Android feel "restricted" kinda, it's ironic. Also, Apps are much better.

Even if you get a new Android Tablet, like the Huawei Mediapad M5, you will probably get some updates for a year, and then it will slow down alot. After 2 years, they are in most cases just "dead" (aka, no new updates, also not security).

Samsung Galaxy Tab S3 already (1 year, few month old) only getting security patches every 3-4 month~, despite beeing the latest Samsung Tablet.

Honestly, dont "waste" your Money in Android Tablets, where even the expensive "higher end" models will have some disadvantages.

Get the latest consumer iPad, and be happy with timely Updates the next 4 Years, and the better OS for Tablets.

If you really insist: Save a few bucks for the Huawei Mediapad M5. You REALLY do not want to buy older models there, this kind of "saving money" isn't really worth.
