power supply with new gpu

Latislapaloie

i'm planning on getting a gtx 760 -770 but i want to get a new psu since my 6 pins on my current ones are dead :( i want something that is modular and isn't too expensive. would this power supply be good? (i5 3570k, gtx 560, 8gb ram are my current specs)

http://www.ncix.com/products/?sku=89914&promoid=1051

also how long do you think a gtx 760 would last me? in terms of running games at high graphic settings and gaming at 1080p

I haven't read into the RM series power supplies, but there's some on here that don't recommend it due to its low quality capacitors.

I personally really like Seasonic. Corsair is good too.

EDIT: Oh wait, you want modular...hmmm. What's the max you'd spend?

Might as well consider it modular, because the cables that are attacthed; every computer needs them.

OR you can get the 550w version, but you'll have less headroom.

the problem with my 6 pins on my current psu is that they shut my pc down when i'm gaming but when i use the spare 6 pins that came with my gpu its fine, but i would just feel better if i had a new one.

my current psu is http://www.ultraproducts.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=7850414&CatId=2533

With an I5 and a 770. That PSU is overkill on an ordinary setup. My CX600M with 46 on the 12v handles my OC on the I7 and 770 fine.

Nvidia recommends a 600 with 42A on the 12v for the 770. 760 can get by on quite a bit less. Keep in mind that they have to consider AMD 8350 CPU's which consume a bunch more power then your I5.

49 bucks on sale and is more then enough. 46A on the 12V, and Nvidia and Intel are very good on power usage. Now if you had a 8350 and a R9 280x? That would be a different story.  R9 280x and a Intel? The cx600m would be enough as long as you weren't OC the @#$% out of the Intel and GPU.

This is if you don't have like 3 plus HD's and a case fan in every slot etc. If you do? Then yeah get something bigger.

As far as the GTX 760? It barely uses more power then your GTX 560 does. Like I said. Nvidia is pretty damn good on power usage. :)
