GPU for 144Hz 1440p monitor

The OP wants 144hz @1440p...

Just because it can do 144hz doesn't mean it has to, that's the whole point in Gsync. My 1080 on a 144hz gsync is perfectly, however with that said …..

Right now just sit on it and wait on new cards, it wouldn't be a little short sighted to spend $800 2 months before more powerful cards arrive

rumor has it its not coming out as expected.

OP didn't say that, he asked what would be required for it, OP has a 1440P Gsync, like me (not quite you) and as we both know, you need a card to run games at 144FPS to get the best from a 144hz Gsync monitor. 75 FPS on Gsync is perfectly smooth so a 1080 is still a great card for 1440P - yes 1080ti is even better, but as my previous reason..

1440p 60fps in most, but at max settings in games like AC Origins no.

I never said max. It'll do those games on high 60fps though, which is what most people should be playing on anyways.

Yea my old ass Kepler can play my games on high with 1440 too. Doesn’t change the fact that it’s kinda pointless to lose frames and quality just to have a bigger picture. But if that all people want, then they shouldn’t have to ask.

Yeah i bought it, got it for a good price (compare to my country) still waiting for it but i thought on buying a riser card ( i have the same case as yours) mosly for better looking you know how much it will impact performance, this card is taking only 2 slots so it still have some room between the glass and the card and also this card as i saw on reviews should be very quiet and have good cooling so should i do that?

And if yes from where i can buy online the fractal design riser cable (or other cables that will work for this case)

I'm pretty sure this question has already been asked here too many times, but I want to be sure.

I just bought Dell S2716D, and I have pretty much old graphics card (GTX 550ti) so I want to get a new one but I don't know which should I get,

I have pretty old CPU as well, I have I7 4770 (non-K) and for the next half year I'm not going to upgrade it, for now, I want to get only a new graphics card.

I want to start playing BF1, Rise of the Tomb rider and PUBG, I don't want to play on the highest settings (high or a little bit lower its ok for me)

So I thought to buy a GTX 1080, but as I saw on other forums and over here the best for 144Hz 1440p is to have GTX 1080 Ti,

so the big question is if should I get the Ti and I will not have bottlenecks with the CPU I have now (till I will upgrade it).

I have the budget to buy the Ti, or the best is to wait for till Nvidia will launch the new graphics card (as I understood its more couple months).

So what is the best to do right now?

I have the same monitor DELL 1440p G-SYNC 144HZ and a i7 4770k with a GTX 1080TI and have had no problems with fps issues in all the games i've played and i've played lots of Triple AAA games.

All i can say is that the GTX 1080TI plays games at 1440p with no problems at all. No bottlenecks with the CPU at all.

If you can get a GTX 1080TI cheap enough get one if not wait will GTX 1180 comes out or if you can wait even longer get the GTX 1180 ti.

BUT remember this every GPU you get its eventually going to get replaced by a better GPU down the line.

To run at more than 100fps on modern games at 1440p nothing less than a 1080ti will do 1070 can run 1440 p but with max fps around 80hz. If you want to use your monitors 144hz to its max you should go for 1080ti

Good stuff! personally i wouldn't buy the vertical mounting unless water cooling my GPU. (which i will do at some point) The cooling should still be ok but i would test it to be sure.

Unfortunately the fractal design kit hasn't been released yet, im waiting too. Its due sate has passed i wish they would release it!

did you get it then? lets see a pic of your beast!

I still waiting for my cablemod cables to come, so i will upload for now only the graphics card after i unboxed it http://imgur.com/a/9JqZ4tz

I also bought BF1 and my cpu running it pretty good, it getting to 80% max and i hope with the new bf that should come soon it will mot bottleneck the gpu.

I need also a little help with overclocking it, i never overclocked a gpu before, i have the evga software, msi afterburner and nzxt software with which one will be the best and the easiest to work with? And how much power i should put on it?, and which benchmark software i should use?

I would use MSI afterburner but you need to spend some time watching YouTube vids on it. You can use Afterburner voltage without worrying you're going to fry the GPU. For benchmarking use

OP, i know alot of people will flame me for this, but two used 1070's is cheaper then a 80ti, and will have improvements in handling 4 games in ultra settings  with more fps, if your games work with sli, and i might add again it'd be cheaper, so random n00bs dont say sli isnt worth it cause this instance it could be.

I wouldn’t buy a gpu now at least until the new ones come out, the new ones maybe not be that much better than a 1080ti maybe only 20% faster but then as not much info is out about them they may be 40-50% faster who knows, I wouldn’t drop 800$ on a card now knowing that a new ones coming then thinking to myself I should have waited, it’s your money at the end of it so the choice is yours but I would wait and see what the new ones are like then make my choice.

Good luck choosing lol

Yh in some games it is worth it but not a lot support it that’s the biggest issue, in a few months you change the game you play that don’t support sli and you have to rely on a single 1070 when you could have had a 1080 or 1080ti

Alot offer support a couple weeks or months after release though too. So people think ah crap game xyz don't support SLI so they forget about it but shortly after they support it
