how do I move my OS from a HDD to a SSD?

Okay well I bought a SSD becasuse I want a faster boot speed and I also want to boot programs faster.

I'm having a hard time moving my os from my hdd to a ssd can anyone help me?

Best to do a fresh install on the SSD.

Yeah just load up all your important files on a usb stick or external drive and fresh install !

Create a Linux Live-CD, run the dd command in terminal.

Be sure to copy the HDD to SSD, the other way around will cause data loss.

 

Next, in GEDIT remove the "Boot" flag from the HDD. Restart your computer and it should boot from SSD. If not manually set BIOS to boot from SSD.

 

After all this, get files off the old HDD in windows and copy them to safe location. Then reformat the HDD.

 

 

And your done, enjoy your SSD :D
