So this is going to be my first PC build and looking to get a few tips and advise. I'll be using it mostly for gaming (different genres).

Will this system run while on the monitor I chose or is there anything that needs to be changed? I'm all ears. Thanks for the help guys!

Looks good to me.  Have you used a 1080 monitor that big before?  That is my only concern, pixels count at that size.

looks like a great build, but know that a 2600 and a 580 have a 20% bottleneck.

and you may want to wait for the ram pricing to come down.

If you're referencing that crap bottleneck "calculator" then it's well, crap.

Having a CPU that's able to feed extra information to a GPU is a good thing, not a bottleneck, it allows for headroom going forward.

Bottlenecks can't be quantified in the way you just did. The 580 and the 2600 are a good match and shouldn't have any issues getting great performance. You won't run into a cpu bottleneck under normal conditions which is really all that matters.

No I haven't, and I was worried about that myself a little. I was thinking about going down to a 27" but I liked how wide this one is...

i'll remember that i won't use it with smaller calculations then.

If you have the opportunity to have a look at a monitor with that size and resolution before you buy, I would do it.  Microcenter, Frys, Bestbuy in the US and other electronics stores that sell this sort of thing could show you what it looks like.

You are better off looking at raw data and benchmarks to draw conclusions. Even then that data is specific to those use cases. If you have enough data you can make a pretty good estimate of what potential bottlenecks could end up being. Anyways the short version is real world data always trumps theoretical data. If you want to find out how a system will fair in a certain game just find a benchmark of that scenario. That will give you the information you need.

I wish I could. I just moved to Italy a couple months ago and haven't found a PC store that has much of anything. There's a MediaWorld here but have more laptops and lower-end desktops.

Then I'd order from someone with a good return policy, just in case you can't live with it.

It has 33% more pixels than a normal 1080p monitor and has 33% larger diagonal size than a 25inch monitor. I would say the pixel density should be ok.

You think a 1440 would be too much for this system? I was looking at some 1070ti's, just don't know it's worth the +$500 price tag.

I was looking through the reviews on it and not many people are saying bad things about the pixel density. So I think I might just roll the dice.

My math is kinda flawed but if it is around a 25 inch 1080p monitor pixel density then it is completely fine. I wouldn't worry to much about it.

You are probably right, as long as the OP hasn't used a 1440 monitor before.  Downgrading is hard.

the 580 is OK for 1440, but a 1070ti or 1080 is better.  What games do you want to play and what FPS?

It's the same with refresh rate and playing fps games. Going from 240hz to 60hz feels just awful. Doesn't even feel like the same game tbh.

I'd be playing a big variety of games (I get bored playing the same thing for to long). I'd be playing GTA5, Civilization VI, Fortnite, and Battlefeild to start.

And thats one thing I'm worried about. I got my wife a 27" 5K iMac for Christmas last year that I use to do online classes and I can't see a pixel if I wanted to. And I currently game on a 4K OLED with my Xbox, but I really want to get in to PC gaming without breaking the bank. (still paying for this dang iMac) HA

All of those should work on a 1440p monitor with a 580 at med/high settings around 60fps for the harder ones and 100fps for the easier ones.

On the 1080 they will ROCK AND ROLL.
