Hello guys,  I've been thinking of upgrading my pc lately, especially my gpu, cpu, motherboard and psu. Want to buy the 1080ti along with 8700k. Or should I perhaps wait for the new volta architecture to come out and then decide what gpu to buy ?

Right now i have msi 970, i5 6600k, Msi Z170 gaming pro, 4x4gb DDR4 2666MHz CL15 HyperX, 620W seasonic psu. Could you guys recommend me what motherboard, psu probably new ram to buy?

Thanks. ^_^

Z170 is not compatible with the 8700k without serious modding. Best you can get now is a 7700K

Personally, I picked up an asus z370 maximus x hero (wifi/ac) and I am in love. A great motherboard, 1 click 5ghz overclock, a heatsink for m.2 drive, bluetooth/wifi (I wanted the bluetooth), back panel usb type c port, no backplate needed to attach to case, nice aesthetics... It's an all around good board.

I already have 144hz monitor. I have money to spare so i wanna push some FPS. Not good enough for me i would say :>

Cool. Then get a new GPU. And maybe an unlocked i7 of that generation if you're really insitent on upgrading it. Then OC the crap out of all of it.

What are you planning on playing? I don't think its worth throwing in the towel with your current setup although I appreciate I am in the minority.

Probably gaming or helping technophobes with tech...

I would wait for a new architecture if you have a 970. I personally don't like to upgrade every generation.

Also for the CPU, do you really need the upgrade? Do you need more horsepower than you currently have?

I would personally wait for a new generation of both GPUs and CPUs and see what performance gains are there.

If you really want to upgrade, any Z370 is good enough, so go with any unless you want to do some serious overclocking.
