My First 4K TV

Marius5013

Right, so I'm getting my first 4k tv and is torn between a lot of options. I didn't see anyone comparing these televisions which are all within my price range anywhere, so, I thought I'd go here.

I'll mostly be using it to watch movies or playing FIFA on my Xbox One S, look at my photographs, or watching sports.

I'd like to know which TV is best, which advantages they have over each other, and which ones should burn in hell.

These are my options, and while I appreciate people trying to help, please avoid recommending other televisions as the prices are fucked in Denmark. Though if these are all total bollocks, I, of course, appreciate you telling me.

I'll just say that I out of personal preference believe 49 inches is best size for 4k.

Thank you, that's great advice. I'll see if more people respond to my topic, and choose from there. But thank you, if I can't choose from here, I'll go to the local electronic store and build on your advice.

It's probably not a bad idea to go to the store anyway. Visual mediums like TV's and monitors quite often depends on your personal preferences.

Personally, I have a 55" Hisense 4K tv and it's been great for me.

Definitely, but I always go here for advice If my own research isn't successful. In the end, I might go with my personal preference, but it's always good to know where these televisions stand.

for 4k TV´s i can only recommend hisense, i bought a 55" one about two years ago for a little over 600€ and its very good.

my other TV is not 4k but there is one thing i like better, its a Sony and has Android TV so i can basically do with it whatever i want and have more options.

My advice would be to check on https://www.rtings.com/tv and use their 'best TV for you' function. Put in what its going to be used for most, size range, lighting environment and viewing angles etc, and it will list the best they have reviewed.

Also decide on a size. You have 40" up to 55" listed, thats a big variation in size. Usualy people limit their options to 2 sizes like 49/50" and 55".

Size wise, you really need to look at your viewing distance, the bigger your distance to bigger the screen should be.

My personal opinion on it is that for PC use i tend to recommend a 1.25x screen size for view maximum distance, so a 50" screen you should sit at most 63" away.

Console can usualy go a bit further due to differences in UI design/scale and overall function vs PC, so maybe up to 1.75x.

and General use such as Movies up to 2x.

Reverse this if you have a Tv bought already and want to set up your seating position.

My opinion on a specific TV.

If i HAD to buy a new TV to replace my Plasma which i use fo r my PC (which i plan on sticking with untill OLED comes down in size) I would go with a Samsung UE40 MU6100/6400/7000 depending on availability and specific price at the time, to tide me over untill such a time a i could get a proper quality display (I dont consider any LCD type display 'quality')

Reason being is that it has good input lag figures, relativly good contrast, ok pixel response etc. For the price its the least worse out of the ,unfortunatly, single type of display available at that size currently.

After reading your comments, and doing a bit of research myself, I have narrowed the options down to three.

Philips 49" UHD Smart TV 49PUS7272

Samsung 50" UHD Smart TV UE50MU6125

LG 55" 4K UHD LED Smart TV 55UJ630V

Now I am absolutely lost between these televisions. On one hand, the Samsung has great input lag (14 ms), but edge led. The LG has direct led and good input lag as well.

The Phillips tv has Ambilight and stuff. IDK it's hard to choose.

Right, I've narrowed it down again, now to the LG and Phillips tv. Please help me decide. Down to the 49 versions of the LG and Phillips

Bassed on reviews, or lack there of in the case of the Phillips, i'd go with the LG.
