GPU wait or not

This GPU shortage really sucks. I do wedding photography during the weekends and I am looking into build a new computer. Old computer is having motherboard/power issues while turning on.

Is my Geforce GTX 970 still good enough for lightroom 6 or should I spend another 500 for the Nvidia GTX 1070? I was thinking about waiting for next year when GPU prices are down to buy a good one.

 

New Build: $1800

Intel Core I7 8700

Nvidia GTX 1070

Smasung 960 PCie M.2

16GB DDR4

2 HD - raid 1 (Storage for my pictures)

 

Old Build:

Intel Core I5  3570K

DDR3 32gb

GeForce GTX 970

Samsung 950 pro SSD

Does it feel too slow at this point then?

Oh totally the GTX 970 until the new gen then buy a GTX 1180/2080 with the money you'll save until, when they release there will be cards at msrp you have to take this chance to buy one then with an i7 8700 you'll just have a stupidly powerful system.

I overclocked my 1060 to gain 20frames on custom setting on Ghost Recon. 2560x1080. Going to buy that 1180.

 

Supirsed even max settings on FarCry 3 all I had to turn down was x8 anistropic filtering to x4. Game looks too good.

 

I found a couple 1080 TI's for 700 prices. I'm going to wait for a new one, no point buying on a brink of a new GPU on the horizon. I can't imagine having a 970 or 960.

 

Oh also there is a Armor 1080 on eBay for $500. Just message me I can give the link or you can search it up.
