Cheap Workstation Laptop

I found this workstation laptop, used on eBay.

It costs $450 USD, and has these specs.

CPU: i7 5500u @ 2.4GHz

RAM: 8GB RAM

GPU: Quadro K2100M

Screen Size: 15.6 inch

Model: HP ZBook 15u G2

Price: $465 USD Shipped to my door.

I am looking for a powerful laptop that can handle video editing, photo editing and programming, such as Java.

Would this be enough for what I need?

I also plan on playing games such as GTA SA, ETS2 and maybe Just Cause 2, at the most.

Will also upgrade to 16GB of RAM

hi.

Yes, that would be fine. If you can make an offer, try going for $440 or $450 if you can.

That is a pretty wimpy system. Id look for one with a quad core and is gonna be pretty slow.

Do you really need a workstation? Do you need a quadro(probably not) and buiness grade laptop features.

Yes - that laptop can game at medium-to-high settings, depending on the game.

Thank you for the information <3.

I wouldn't mind a workstation. I am not sure I need a quadro but want a dedicated GPU, and this was one of the cheapest I found.

I agree. The 2 cores, 4 thread CPU is a bit underwhelming. I will look for something that has a 4 core i7. Thank you for the information though. Appreciate it.

This is very good, but it is shipping in from the US, and import taxes and all that, I don't want to hassle with that. It also doesn't come with a power supply, which is around $50 on its own.

What about this? Has an older i7 but 4 cores and 8 threads, has a nvidia m4000, and has lots of expansion slots.

17.3 inch screen size.

I have this laptop. It works well if you don't mind the size. The m 4600 is the 15in version. Also look for the newer m4800 and m6800 as there newer and a bit faster

I know this is gonna sound strange, but if

  • everything else in the specs look good
  • and if the CPU is swappable

I'd say buy it and upgrade the CPU. If that's not an option, ignore this post.
