Okay, so after the Windows 10 version (1803) my games are now randomly minimizing to desktop screen for a few seconds and then back to the game.

Is anyone else experiencing this random issue?

If so, what do you recommend for a fix?

I have all latest drivers for everything. So please don't say anything driver related. Thanks =D

I haven't updated yet, but it seems that way from what I've seen....

And we thought 1709 was bad

ahaha that's crazy!

I'm expecting an update soon as next week for bug fixes. WE'LL SEE!

Wasn't part of the reason that they postponed the update was because they wanted to fix and test their new update? c'mon Microsoft...

The official release date for the update is May 8, which is expected to have a day 1 patch (which is what is usually the case, or a week or so after a release).

Normally, Microsoft just releases it in waves, but this time, if you manually check for update, it gets it before the official date, with the idea that you really want it.

I guess they did this to get it out the door on April (last day), so that they don't need to rename the update, and change the version number, which probably is a hassle to do.

Its best to wait for the wave. Also gives an opportunity to get updated drivers to solve bugs. For example, Nvidia just released an update fixing several issues with Netflix app and 1060 stuck in an install loop, and fix the issue where the driver unloads itself when the PC is idle.

To me, it sounds like a program is taking focus (minimizing the game as a result, as it is a full-screen game), than quitting, and then focus returns back to the game making it come back. Look for startup programs and task manager programs.

You should not have more than 3-4 items on your startup (a goal not requirements). Meaning: Your A/V, OneDrive (or whatever you use, if any), and maybe your keyboard/mouse, that is all. No Java Updater, Chrome updater, Adobe updater, Sound panel, wireless replacement panel, and whatever crap that has nothing to do there.

I would love to insert the clip of getting the Mushroom Badge in Cave Story right here, but I can't find a good one on YouTube...

I have the same mindset! I only have 3-4 on start up and i don't have any more than that. It's just since the update/patch/part update, whatever it is...thats when this started happening.

Well it's definitely a program.. do you have GeForce Experience, I know this program can be problematic with new versions of Windows. I would remove it, Nvidia 3D Vision too. I would look in Task Scheduler to see if there is anything funny there as well.

I am using Thinkpad X1 Carbon. After updated to 1803, the fan of the laptop was spinning like a plane took off.

Also see what Task Manager shows. Your system is probably doing Maintenance.

If not, make sure all your drivers are installed and updated, and that you have the latest version of your BIOS/UEFI

I have already used the latest version of BIOS. But the noise of the fan is still unbearable. So I restored the computer to the previous version (1709). The fan condition has improved markedly. My laptop is Thinkpad X1 Carbon 2017 (i5-7200u, 8g RAM, 256 storage)
