Asus z370 gaming e problems

Anyone else had an issue where the Asus z370 gaming e won't overclock an i7 8700k? Only way I could get mine to overclock was disabling vrm thermal protection. I'm running at 5 ghz at 1.376 volts hitting around 70c on custom loop delided. Before I disabled this it would throttle down after 5 minutes of prime 95 with avx off.

32GB Gskill trident z 3866 Mhz

1000 watt evga gold psu

All watercooled

it's normal. This thing has mediocre VRMs.

Yeah It is on 6, doesn't matter. It would throttle down. Maybe the vrms heatsink is lose or something.
