Yeah I got a free sim from a Rogers store, but most you pay.

I needed it to get into the phone and reset it back to factory default since it was a used mobile phone and I needed to bypass the password.

Oh I got no idea, I know for Fido a few years back I picked my own number, of course Rogers owns them its their value brand. Took me 4 or 5 hours to go through all the cities and find the best phone numbers there was at that time. Its a keeper! I checked the other day and its all the new area code BS. All I did was port the number to a different carrier, on Bell. It was instant. Best thing I ever did was spend those hours finding the easiest numbers for people to remember. You know how you have those numbers like 1800growers or something like that, well I got one of those, plus a 780-955-5000 type of number. Best thing I ever did.

I dont know about Cricket but I am sure they are all the same for porting. Its just each carrier has a different method oh assigning phone numbers. Thats why I went through 4 or 5 different companies in what I did, buying a SIM card for each one. Like I said its the best thing I ever did. You dont want a business with a phone number too hard to remember, nor do you want a personal phone number thats hard to remember.

Well that's a hard post to read. You should really take some time to add punctuation into your posts.

You can try calling Cricket for the unlock code, but I believe in the US you'll have to pay a fee to unlock it. You could also look on eBay, there's usually unlock codes available on there for a few dollars.

you need the sim card that the phone is locked to

No, no you don't. It doesn't lock the phone to a SIM card, the phone is locked to the network.

You can try another company, but likely you can't unlock it.
