Hackintosh Life Span

Go to solution Solved by bamerx98,

I need to get a good 3 years out of the hackintosh is that possible?

I'm willing to make upgrades.

With a laptop, or a desktop. Laptop I'm sure you could get 3 years out of it just make sure your going with a pretty high spec'd machine and get a SSD right away as it will give you the max life span out of any device. Now a desktop on the other hand you could easily get 3-5 years out of with upgrading components. A major part to keeping a machine fast is really the hard drive and for anything these days I would recommend getting a SSD. There is no way that I would be able to go back to a hard drive boot drive just over the speed a SDD offers over all on the machine

I'm currently think about the idea of a hackintosh I can't decide to go with a hackintosh or the new macbook pro. I currently have the 2012 macbook pro that is starting to be the end. I do a lot of Xcode development and always need to have the latest Xcode so I can post new apps to the app store. I don't know if there is a work around to Xcode being this way.

Hackintoshes are WAYYY cheaper.

But if you need portability you should buy a Mac Book

If you the probability then I would say the Macbook, but you can find other laptop which can run OS X. Otherwise, a hackintosh will be cheaper and perform the same. Tonymacx86 will have all you will need.
