Dehumidifier inside my rig?

Go to solution Solved by WoodenMarker,

Condensing liquid inside your case probably isn't the best idea. You could just have the dehumidifier running in the room instead.

Hi guys!

I'm totally new here, so I just want to ask a precious question from me.

Is it okay to put a dehumidifier inside my case?

Here's the picture btw.

I'm just being cautious because I had an oxide build up issue on my MSI GTX 970, and I just used it for a year. What a waste of money though. So now I want to protect my rig as much as possible so that I can prolong the life of rig.

Any suggestions will be kindly appreciated.

Thank you everyone! :)

would that work in an enclosure that's having air flowing through? o_o those tubs I'd usually use them in closed walldrobes

Well that idea is for when my computer is off, when the components is cooling and there's no heat to fight the condensation. At night, our RH percentage reaches to 70% here in my room, and Iam just sleeping. Just thought it would be nice to put a dehumidifier inside while it's not in use.

Now my question is, is it safe to put a dehumidifier inside a case when you're using your pc?

Thanks for the reply!

Kindly appreciated. :)

Dehumidifiers condense water vapor.

Well guys the sad truth is that my room is open. There's so many ways that the air can mak it's way to my room. It's not enclosed, so I know that when I use just these kind of things, it'll not be a very much of a help though. Coz these kinds of things is just for little, enclosed environment right?

Well, I'm just trying something out. Prolly might get rid of it then hehehe

They take humidity out of the air and store it as liquid water inside. Once the water is there, it's literally a source of humidity.

As others have said, you should dehumidify your entire room instead of condensing that humidity inside your case.

Oh really? So what do you do for your pc maintenance? Any advice?

I just get rid of the dust, either by cleaning frequently (once a month) and use a sealed case with dust filters covering the intakes. This is an air cooles build so I didnt have any liquid coolers to worry about. I mean, copper and aluminium oxides dont hurt the performance or durabiliy of the machine since they dont peel off like iron rust do. What will hurt is the looks, as parts change colors and lose their metallic shine.

What are your temps like for this "time of year" if it is warm run the AC and bam dehumidifier with cool air. If it is super cold out then humidity would already be low.....  now worse case is 40-50 in a humid area because then you don't have as many options.

In the last scenario you are best off buying an actual dehumidifier and having it either run to a bucket or out of say a window...

The big thing about what you are using... is that bucked absorbs moisture and stores it inside normally as a gel or something similar. Now if that was to spill it would be conductive and short out components.
