BT-6 BlueTube Amplifier

CatCloud

So i was strolling the web and saw this beast, never really heard of a Tube amp before, how are they? it cost like a fist to the face so i doubt ill get one for awhile but damn its sexy.
http://www.bluetubeaudio.com/collections/amplifiers/products/bt-6-bluetube-amplifier-115v-230-world-wide .

This is the BT-6, the reason im looking at this one instead of BT 4 is due to it´s "World Wide" ..not sure if they are talking about shiping or that it actualy works world wide. also it have 6 tubes instead of 4 (whatever that is good for)

full packaged: 1,599 USD ....hmmm....

Anyone know anything about them`?
What are the downsides?

Can't you tell how warm it sounds just by looking at it?

what are the downsides?  Ask Mr. Nerdgasm:

I think he points them all out pretty well in this video

alot of audiophiles actually like tube amplifiers or use them as preamp, there's stuff like the bottlehead crack + speed ball which is very popular in certain community. I can't go into detail because i neither own them nor listened to them before, Output impedence is very high tho just beware.

Warm?

Not sure why you linked Mayflower´s product, sure the Tube amp is there but he didn't say much and about them in terms of downsides, it was mostly: yeah..cost more then this, does the same, but looks better.

Unless that counts as the only downsides then meh

But thanks anyway.

@isen

Alright Thanks.

Guess ill keep reading.

Barnacles compares the SS O2 to a high end tube amp later in the review.

Ok ill be blunt. Yes i saw the whole thing, thing is i didn't ask for what is better for the price or what is better at all, i know Mayflowers little box is great, but its not a Tube amp, so i don't care.

I was just wondering about Tube Amps and such, and thanks again @isen for actually pointing some stuff out.

No offence ShearMe, but yeah.... two different amps.

I was merely pointing out the video wasn't completely off topic since you seemed to not have watched the whole thing. I do have a tube amp if you've got specific questions, but otherwise I'm not sure what to tell you that Google won't.

No offense CatCloud, but if you're going to tell someone to fuck off, at least make it tactful - gets boring around here.

meh to tube amps

take too long to warm up

gotta replace the tubes eventually

higher distortion than ss amp

unless your recording or dealing with vinyl there's no reason to use tubes. imo

Will work for electronic components and parts

Aha alright thanks, guess i missed those parts. and this answers my questions :)

This kind of reminds me of this video.

TLDW - There was a blind test done with a fake tube amp, and a normal SS tube amp. 9/10 preferred the tube amp (even though it did nothing but turn the light bulbs on).

Tube amps are dumb.

Hahaha love that Jar with stones. Thanks for sharing.

Marry Christmas guys! and thanks for the replies.
