Hello, I have read a bit about Windows Game Mode, and am wondering what the consensus on it is. I assume very few people use it, but if any of you do, what are the main "benefits" of it? Is it even worth the trouble or do people just leave it alone?

GTX 1070 RYZEN 5 1600, 16GB 3200mhz, G Pro Wireless,144HZ.

There is virtually no discernible benefit in enabling it. I tried it for a while myself and actually noticed a slight reduction in performance in various games and certain programs.

If you have a PC with weak specs, it should be of more benefit though.

I think the main benefit is to gamers with less than 8GB of RAM as it suppresses slightly less important RAM hogging tasks.

Yours faithfully

Yea hence me mentioning its higher benefit if the PC has weak specs.

UWP Games benefits the most of Game Mode, which is enabled by default.

As for the rest, it really depends on the game. If the game is multi-processed, it may have a performance drop, as it allocates resources to the process that is in front of you, that displays image and reduce prioritization of all other processes, including the games very own back processes, unless Microsoft put the game in its compatibility list to know and add the other processes of the game. If the game is single process it will benefit you more.

The point of game mode for UWP games is that it removes a lot of layers so that the game runs closer to the hardware like Win32 made games.

The point of game mode for Win32 games is that it if you have multiple programs or a program doing things on the back, the game performance impact is reduced. This can also benefit weaker hardware that has trouble handling the OS on the back and the game. If you tend to close everything on the back before playing a game, Game Mode will result in no performance benefits.
