Dual monitor display

So this may be a dumb question, so when you are running a dual monitor display and one monitor is hdmi and the other is vga and you have a gpu,. do you plug the vga one into the motherboardand the hdmi one into the gpu or how does it work? And please don't be mean in the comments I'm a noob with hardware and this will be my first personal computer to have a dual display.

Both to GPU is how I have always done it.  Then configure it in windows.

You can run them both off the GPU or one off the GPU and one off the motherboard (if your CPU has an iGPU).

If your GPU doesn't have any analogue display outputs (basically, if it doesn't have VGA or DVI-I), then it's easier to run it from the motherboard if it has an analogue output as you won't need a converter.

Running both off the GPU is easier to manage, so that's what I'd advise doing.

Well I don’t have vga, so I would need to adapt it for something. If I’m only running two, I’d put them both on the card, depending on what it converted to and if I have an additional port for that. I use my igpu’s anyway.
