Computer shuts down when gaming

Hello,

 

My computer has been shutting down at random points when i'm gaming for the past 4 months. I play mostly overwatch and it runs for hours sometimes and sometimes minutes, then a random crash usually happens about every day. I don't think that heat is the issue because the components seem to be cooled enough. I have removed overclock and then put it back on and no difference has been noticeable. I thought it might be the psu, but I spoke with corsair and they don't believe it is, although I haven't sent it in.

 

Also everytime my computer shuts off, I have to turn off the power supply with the on/off switch and wait for the lights on the computer to die. Then I have to wait about a minute before I turn back on the power supply and turn on the computer.

Once I hit the case power button, the computer boots up for about 2 seconds, shuts down, and then starts a normal boot up. This happens every time my computer shuts down.

 

The event viewer shows issue 41 every time my computer crashes, with some other errors and warnings as well. I see eventID like 10016 and 8233 occur often, not sure if those are related.

 

Overclock is set at xmp, DRAM: 3000mhz, I think cpu is 4100 and cache is 4200. I don't really know how to completely remove it, but I don't think it is the issue.

Now this usually is a bad circuit somewhere.

 

Have u added anything new since this started happening?  U could try reseating any cards in the pc and also reseat the ram just incase.

I have not added any new components, but I have unseated gpu, ram, mobo fan plugs, psu connections with no difference.

 

Would the bad circuit be on the motherboard?

If it's not overheating, then I would maybe consider backing off the overclock's and try things at stock speeds. If that doesn't work, then it could be a PSU issue, which would require a replacement, otherwise it's tricky sometimes to figure these things out.

Do you know how to reset everything to stock speeds for asus motherboards? I think I have tried reset defaults but I think the overclock was still on for the cpu.

WHAT??? So I'm possibly fucked?

If you are gonna reset to defaults do so on the board via the jumper and not in the bios, this should reset all to defaults.

I have a CLR_CMOS button on the motherboard, would the accomplish the same goal?

Yes. Put the little cover from 1-2 to 2-3, wait a few minutes for good measure and put it back to 1-2. Make sure to discharge any power by holding the power button. Plug the power supply our while doing this.

Cleared CMOS and set bios to optimized defaults and still have the same issue.

Motherboard Avg: 37c

CPU: 34c

GPU: 65c

RAM: 39 c

m.2 SSD: 50c

 

Temps are listed in screenshots labeled load 1 & load 2, temps taken during gaming. Idle temps are also above load temps.

No, I don't know how to that How often do capacitors fail?

@Just An Average ToasterThese days Capacitors fail very seldomly compared to the past but it can still happen.
