I’m trying to upgrade my gaming computer, currently inside is a GTX 1050 2GB, and an Intel Pentium G4560. I obviously need to upgrade either one to make the computer better, but I don’t truly know which one to go after first. Money isn’t the issue here either, I just need to know which one is more important to a gaming computer because every time I try to figure it out, there’s never a clear answer from anyone. A little advice would help, so, yeah.

I would personally upgrade the CPU first so you're not forced to when you upgrade the GPU down the road.

EDIT: a lot of people will say the GPU is the core of a gaming rig, but a high end GPU isn't worth much if it's bottlenecked by your CPU.

I'd say look for an i5 or i7 first, and then maybe when GPU prices fall a bit if they do, might be able to nab something.

Yours faithfully

1050gtx is around equal to a ps4 graphic performance +-, cpu is like equal to a friggen ps2 cpu performance ( just an idea, not exactly like it )   so upgrade that cpu first lol

1050 is better than ps4 tho

Not at all, PS4 has the GPU horsepower equivalent to a RX 470.

What resolution and frame rates? What problems are you facing that are warranting an upgrade? Your current setup is pretty well matched at the moment.

If you are going to upgrade I would wait for the new GPUs from AMD and nVidia coming this year. The CPU I would also wait for the higher core count parts coming from both AMD and Intel. RAM prices will also have fallen by then.

If you don't have an SSD that will make the biggest difference

That's an F in the profile pic

a gpu will do nothing without a decent cpu really... unless u play 3d benchmarks that solely focus on gpu,,, probably 50% of ur fps comes from a good cpu  ( think about mmos for example those are like 70-80% based on cpu while games like dirt are like 70-90% based on gpu :D )

id say in general, 40% of the fps comes from the cpu ( generalizing literally everything )   and for me personally since i love mmos, i guess for me its like 70% xD

because its a console, ppl dont want screentearing and dropping frames with vsync enabled = RIP

with vsync disabled it doesnt really matter, bt if u drop frames while u have vsync on ( standard on a console ) u will stutter and chop like crazy ( take an example of poor optimized ps4 games for example those suckers drop to 10fps n extreme stutter )

Rx 470 can barely handle ultra settings
