cpu k vs non K h370 chipset

Can you put a k cpu in a h370 chip set board? I ask because the intel 8700k has a higher base clock and 100mhz faster on turbo Then the intel 8700 or should i go for the non k version! I Also prefer the New h370 motherboards and the Nocutua hl9i handle the 8700k? Thanks for any feed back!

Yeah, on a H370 board (or really any non Z series chipset) a K CPU is just a higher clocked non-K (or vice versa).

That cooler is a 95W TDP cooler. The 8700K is a 95W chip. So yes it can handle it, but don't expect it to be either quiet or reach max. potential clockspeeds.

EDIT: I kind of have to redact that last statement, the cooler in one review I'm casually reading doesn't look half bad. In terms of temps and also noise.

You can put a k series chip in the h370 motherboards however you wont be able to overclock and the extra 100mhz is not worth the money you will pay for the 8700k so I would suggest the 8700 if you are sold on an h370 motherboard. I would highly recommend a larger coooler than the nh-l9i as if there isnt fantastic airflow in your case you will probably thermal throttle when under continuous load. Only use it if you are going to use a case that cant fit anything bigger and you care more about the aesthetics of the case than performance.

Yes i have a small itx case but plenty of intake fans for positive air pressure! C7 is the only low profile cooler i can think of but the reviews say its too noisy and it's only a couple of degrees cooler i needed a 56mm clearance thanks for the feedback probably going to buy the 8700 thanks!
