download crystal disk info and check what it wrong with it. it could be a benign error, like it got too hot once.

Sorry to break it to you, Your HDD. Its dying and there's nothing that can be done to save it :( You will have about 40 more power on hours on the drive more than likely before it dies. So if I were you turn off your PC until you get a new drive to clone to

The disk was wiped by the previous owner, so no need for cloning.

Formatting the disk right now. Will try crystal disk afterwards. I'll keep you guys informed

Sorry to hear that you're experiencing trouble with your drive. We have a free diagnostic software SeaTools you will probably want to grab for running tests. 

3rd party utility results need to be taken with a grain of salt because we do not publish drive attributes & thresholds as a matter of policy. For more info on this, see our Knowledge Base article:

The drive started making horrible noices and the tool doesn't even detect it.

I'm ready to declare it dead.
