Intel Core i5-8400 VS. AMD RYZEN 5 1600

As the title suggests, I am just looking for a bit more of an insight as to which CPU is more worth it for the money. I plan on doing heavy gaming, maybe some potential streaming, and music/video creation and editing. 

I also plan on pairing both of these with a GTX 1060 if that helps. In your experience could you guys help me out and help me decide which one to get as well as give me a little more insight on what the whole coffee lake line is?

1600, it is hyperthreaded and unlocked (~3.9/4ghz overclock or so)

i would say 8600k over the 1600 if you do overclock it, but since you are comparing the 8400 and 1600, get the 1600.

So for heavy gaming go for i5 8400 but if you are sure that you are going to stream and game then ryzen 5 1600 is better choice for you. The 8400 will outperform ryzen 1600 in games. It depends whether you plan to stream or not

If you can, wait for a couple of weeks to look into the new Ryzen 2000 series. If prices are comparable, you should get a Ryzen 5 2600

still but there around 310-320

For streaming and exporting/rendering, the 1600 will perform better. For everything else, the 8400 will perform better.

One of the new cpu released by Intel is the i5-8600. Pricing and availability is a little uncertain, but for gaming it is a very good choice.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
