Is it worth considering a Ryzen processor with 2133Mhz 16gb RAM?

Pretty much what the title says.

 

Currently own:

  • HyperX Fury 2133Mhz 16gb
  • 1050ti

 

Planning to buy:

  • i5 8400
  • Gigabyte B360M HD3
  • Corsair CX550M
  • Crucial MX500 500gb

thats not ryzen

 

well it will work and you'd always have the option of upping your performance by ocing the ram if were talking about amd ryzen not intel stuff like the i5

then get 8400. Ryzen doesnt suck with slow RAM, but it is slower unless you use the extra threads on it.

you would be surprised how much that ram would gimp your gaming performance. I did a test with Rise of the Tomb Raider at 1080P with 2133mhz and then again at 3333mhz, I changed nothing else:

It was a one off test I did, but the result shocked me, this was on a Ryzen 1700 @ 4ghz

If you don't have a 144Hz display, the discussion is useless. 

 

On a 60-75Hz display, it doesn't matter if you have 100fps. 

In this case, RAM speeds don't matter. 

 

Speeds only matter if you're trying to get out every bit of performance from your rig. Which, as I said, isn't necessary if you're on a 60Hz display.

This is assuming that the system has a high end GPU, other wise it always be GPU bound
