Xbox One (Bluetooth) controller compatibility

Go to solution Solved by manikyath,

i recall hearing somewhere that xbone controllers only work on W10, but from the sound of it, did you already buy it? then just try..

also, from two quick google searches:

- official compatibility: xbone and winows 10 (so probably forget about the win8.1)

- for the pi (running retropie specificly) sees to require a bit of fidling, but there's instructions all over the interwebz, you should have no problems finding it

- android seems to be a thing.. somewhat.. pretty much same story as the pi.

Will my Xbox One S Bluetooth controller be compatible with my bluetooth-enabled Windows 10 desktop? My Windows 8.1 laptop? My Raspberry Pi 3B running Retropie? My Android 7.1 LG X Venture?

You need either the Microsoft dongle or Bluetooth to connect wirelessly, or a micro USB cable to used it wired.

I haven't got it working on Android, as it only seems to want to support Samsung devices for Gear VR.

Mine refuses to work with my ASUS Bluetooth 4.0 USB adapter, even though I bought a controller that advertised itself as "Bluetooth Compatible"

Your controller has to be one of the newer ones that has Bluetooth capabilities like the ones that come with the One S/X or a new one in store

Oh I thought you meant Bluetooth controller lol.

It should work flawlessly with a Bluetooth 4.0 card damn. What does it say when you try to pair it?

I managed to get it working. Apparently I was trying to pair it in Xbox Wireless Mode as opposed to Bluetooth. Works fine with every game I use it with.
