M.2/PCI-E boot woes

Go to solution Solved by xentropa,

Are you sure it sticks straight out?  I am looking at the pictures and it appears to have screw holes to allow it to be mounted downwards.

The green circle is the m.2 slot and where I circled in yellow is what I am talking about.  I think you stick it in vertically, and then the M.2 should be able to bend downwards and be screwed down via those holes.

Alright so heres whats on my mind. I wan't to get an M.2 SSD for a boot drive but my motherboard's (Asus H170 Pro Gaming) M.2 slot is pointing outwards and will hit the case so can't use it properly. I see a M.2 to PCIE adapter sold and was wondering, can this thing be booted from at all? What kind of M.2 drives can this thing support? NVMe is out of the question for sure as my motherboard won't support it.

I did notice those mounting points but bad lighting and angle got me in this case, thought it was completely backwards from what I could see at that time. Silly me!

Welp thanks for clearing that misunderstanding, guess I can go ahead and install an M.2 SSD normally!
