Google DNS or Cloudflare DNS

As the title mentioned, which DNS is better now? I had been using google dns since my home got internet and a pc.

I'm using CF as main and Google as backup DNS.

 

Can't say if there's any actual speed impact (I'm already on gigabit, so any difference would probably be unnoticeable)

nice bandwidth u got there, mine here's using 20Mbps, if this country where i'm staying now has gigabits, it might be like another 100 years.... u guys might be using terabits by then  
Jokes aside, i just changed to Cloudflare DNS, no actual speed bump feels... might want some user which is still using kbps speed to share their experience
Btw, Cloudflare says that their DNS is more private, and their logs will be cleared after 24 hours, i wonder if its true or not

Well, they did state they have a independent 3rd party audit company that will verify this and release public reports based on those audits. They seem to be very serious about this privacy claim. As for speeds, you wont really notice it truth be told. its literally a few milliseconds on the query search which you can not nor will ever see as a person regardless of how fast or slow your internet connection is.

We're talking about milliseconds faster resolution over the seconds it takes to load pages. Your webpages aren't going to load noticable faster.

OpenDNS and Google DNS have DNS servers all over the world in datacenters that are connected to various ISPs through peering agreements or other dedicated connections.

So if you enter for example 8.8.8.8 (for Google DNS) you will most likely connect to a server in your country or very close to your country, or if you're in US in your region or a region very close to you.

Same story with Cloudflare.

 

In my case, the DNS server is probably in my own town, so talking 3-5 ms for my cable modem to query the ISP dns server, in contrast 1.1.1.1 is 15ms and  8.8.8.8 is 48ms ( both go to a server in the capital of my country, 450 km away, but different routes and datacenters)

 

In some countries the ISPs actually have good DNS servers with low latency, but yeah, if you want to avoid them you could use DNSs like OpenDNS or Google DNS or this 1.1.1.1 thing .. .same shit. You only have their words that they won't disclose your information.

which ever DNS you choose, put a pi-hole between you and that provider.

Honestly speaking, the only reason i'm using a specific DNS rather than my own country's DNS is that, i can access some other blocked websites by my country, Believe it or not, MCMC only block the sites on the DNS level (google the commission and u'll know which country i'm at)
