I know, but I have never overclocked a cpu before, so I am not sure what I absolutely should not do in order not to destroy my 400$ cpu

:-:

Just watch the temps and don't increase the voltage in large jumps.

Watch an overclocking tutorial, there are thousands on youtube.

As long as your temps are ok you won't kill your CPU.

So my i7 8700k maxes out at 65c with XMP overclock set to 4.7ghz

This is using the noctua NH-D15 cooler

I know that coffeelake usually runs extremely hot, but will my cpu fry if i try to get it to 5.0ghz?

If not, what voltage/clock settings should I set it to in the asus bios?

Thanks!

OFF TOPIC: I suggest every poll from now on to have "**CK EA" option instead of "Other"

Part of overlocking is figuring out yourself what settings to use for your unique CPU.
