I want to buy a used pc but my dad keeps telling me to just go to Best Buy and get one how can I reason with him???

this build is not bad for $250 price.  but you can get better for your money if you spend $400-500.

the problem with this build is that it's limited by a mediocre CPU and in a few years, it wont be worth upgrading.

at least if you build a $400 computer now, with something like a Ryzen 3 2200G, you can add a good graphics card down the road and it'll still be a good computer.

PC Build: R5-1600.  Scythe Mugen 5.  GTX 1060.  120 GB SSD.  1 TB HDD.  FDD Mini C.  8 GB RAM (3000 MHz).  Be Quiet Pure Wings 2.  Capstone-550.  Deepcool 350 RGB.

Peripherals: Qisan Magicforce (80%) w/ Gateron Blues.  Razer Naga Chroma.  Lenovo 24" 1440p IPS.  PS4 Controller.

Audio: Focusrite (Solo, 2nd), SM57, Triton Fethead, AKG c214, Sennheiser HD598's, ATH-M50x, AKG K240, Novation Launchkey

Wishlist: MP S-87, iPad, Yamaha HS5's, more storage

The prob is that I don’t have a job, so I don’t have a steady source of income

unless you really need a computer right now this second, save up.

if i only had $250-300, id get a really good tablet before buying a bad desktop.

Yes but look for a full size tower if you do.

It doesn’t really have to be fast at all but I would like to play fortnite and Minecraft etc I probably won’t be playing any new titles due to being poor

It depends. Personally I wouldn't unless thats my last choice. Ryzen APUs are one of the best budget options right now.

EASY AS - Many here on LTT have probably done a few already like I have.
i7 3770 4Cores8Threads @3.4Ghz Base, 3.9Ghz Turbo, 3.7Ghz Typical

16GB DDR3 Ram (1600Mhz - Chipset Limited)

4GB MSI 1050Ti Low Profile (70-75w Usage MAX - No 6Pin Pwr) +0Mhz Core +500Mhz Vram in some Testing,

Sata3 128GB SSD & 1TB HDD

Adding vent holes in side panel drops 3-5*c.

260w PSU - Est Usage 150-200w /Depending on how much you squeeze out of both CPU/GPU at the same time.

SFF <- Important - SMALL FORM fACTOR STYLE SIZING
SFF sized 1050Ti (expensive now, prices should come down soon hopefully) will fit in those, performs 2% slower,.... IF AT ALL, plus Turboboost is always running it higher and lower.
Playlist of Titles Running - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5ofzFlQXfuFEXJINN914cgz93B4qquk-

Way ample for many to game on.

Maximums - Asus Z97-K /w i5 4690 Bclk @106.9Mhz * x39 = 4.17Ghz, 8GB of 2600Mhz DDR3,.. Gigabyte GTX970 G1-Gaming @ 1550Mhz
