Global Pet Expo had a new startup featuring GPS collars and harnesses for dogs. I don't know if they're expanding, but I may see them tomorrow since the Expo is 3/21-3/23 and I'll be going every day. I'll keep an eye out for some GPS collars.

There are also some GPS tags that you might be able to rivet or clip to a regular collar. I think Linus did a video on one.

He might not be far away.  I know people who's cat ran away but then months later they found it dried out, stiff and flat under the neighbours deck.  Check around, he might just be hiding nearby... hopefully :)

Keep some of your clothes outside. The smell of the "master" usually brings cats back home.

Poor cat. I did look everywhere that i could reach in the neighbourhood, many gardens are closed off though so i put flyers in all their mailboxes. Some neighbours told me its mating season so he could be off in search foor females. I'm keeping my hopes up.

Thats a good idea thanks. I did put his litterbox outside, i was told cats can smell it from far away. I also setup a motion detection camara in the garden.

I found one GPS tracker, but they're only for dogs and the cost would be $200 retail for the tracker and $40 for the collar. Also, it's a Chinese company and this is their first venture.

Thanks again. I've come across some trackers and even though they say its for cats and dogs they all are too bulky to put on a cat.

Everything is too bulky for a cat. Try fitting -anything- on a cat and they'll flip or freeze.

These aren’t bulky by any means, just expensive. I’ve spoken to some of my contacts and the founder of Ezy Dog to see if a GPS module could be made.

IF he ever returns i'm planning to put a GPS tracking collar on him.

Collars on cats are a bad idea. They can easily strangle themselves, they are simply to mobile and "slinky" for it to be safe. Perhaps there would be a market for GPS tags included in the electronic ID tags.

There are colars that fall off when they are stretched too much, made spesifically for cats.

GPS and antenna and stuff needs batteries and stuff. To large for just be in the ID tags.

A solution would be something that just could connect to everyones phones or WiFi and sending the location of the WiFi or phone to the owner.

But for that to even work in any way currently you would have to make an app or something that everyone installs that allow it to connect trough the phones.

But that would firstly be another point where there could be security issues, and you would have to get enough people in all areas to actually use the app.

Most cat collars are break-aways where just a single hand can separate their ends. Putting a collar on cats is still a better idea even with ridiculous “risks” being accounted for.
