Already happened. I believe they’re making a mining version of the 1080ti now though.

 

It was overall a flop and no one bought them because the resale value is terrible and the warranty is short

Both companies have made mining version of their cards with no display connectors,and different specs than the gaming versions.

Miners want gaming cards because they can easily be resold once the return on investment is reached.

Would be the same as asic. Isnt always about resale. Once roi is met and you make money, no reason to care about resale. Sell it to the next poor sap for what ever you can get. Same way with upgrading any hardware really.
