Ipad Mini not turning on

Hey Guys!

 

My grandmother owns an Ipad Mini (first generation) and it has stopped turning on entirely.

 

I've tried pressing each button (volume, lock and home) separately and together for upward of a minute each

 

I've tried turning the volume up and testing to hear a screenshot go off but no sound is made (a couple of years ago the same thing happened to my sisters Ipad 3 but you could still hear the screenshot and to me it resembles that the device is still on just with a faulty screen)

 

Any ideas on how to get it working would be greatly appreciated (we don't want to go to apple unless it's a last ditch effort cause they will force us to pay for the repair)

 

Edit: The device also doesn't appear of plugged into a windows based computer (we don't have a Mac in the house to test it on)
