DUAL MONITOR SETUP

Renegad

Hey guys,
I just bought second monitor and since I just recently got into streaming I wanted to use my old one as a second one. I have a problem when doing so.  The new monitor, Predator XB241YU, is running at 165hz. The old one is running at 60hz. When I am playing CS GO on the Predator alone I can fully experience the refresh rate. However, as fast as I run OBS on the other monitor witch chat, live events and stream preview, it seems like the refresh rate drops to 60s or even lower. I also experience small fps lagg.

Im running 8700k and gtx 1080ti. Anyone here have any solution for that? Any tips? In advance, thanks!

My friend, try to buy a new HDMI cable because you might have a pretty old HDMI cable. You need to have at least a HDMI 2.0 cable. Incase you keep experiencing the issue after getting a new version of a HDMI cable. Just reply to the thread.

I think it's pretty normal that it drops to the refresh rate of the slowest monitor

Problem is only when you stream?

`Thats what Ive have used as my baseline yes. Since there are moving objects in the background when i run SLOBS. When there is nothing on the second monitor, just the wallpaper, everything is fine.

I believe streaming / recording using OBS will have some overhead so your FPS might drop, but it shouldnt drop dramtically i dont think. Also you could try to tweak the settings in OBS (ive never used it personally) but im sure there are options that allow window capture vs monitor capture etc, try changing it to capture the whole monitor rather than a specific application / game ? see if that improves it at all.

Also might be worth while looking at the windows 10 gamecapture settings and turn them all off (if you are using windows 10)

all the above is just guessing though.
