HD6XX questions

Go to solution Solved by Max_Settings,

It will get them going, but not at 100%. I would recommend a Schiit Stack or at least a Fulla 2 to get them running at their full.

Hello :)

First of all: i read the FAQs of this sub but i am still not sure.

i will get my hd6xx in a few weeks and i am wondering if my asus viii hero is good enough for them?

i was looking into a shiit stack or an o2 from massdrop but i would rather save the money if my onboard is good enough.

Thanks

I’m on one of more recent Massdrop HD6xx offerings (ETA mid August). Based on the raving I’ve gathered about these cans, they “scale up” exceptionally well. I’m biassed, mind you. I jumped onto the Schiit bandwagon and am (happily) using a Schiit Audio Modi & Magni stack. No regrets.

May I ask about your audio source? How quiet is your motherboard’s (rear) audio jack? My (used enterprise-level) HP Deskpro 6000 mini-desktop has no detectible background hiss (I think it was orgininally used for telephone tech support). If your source is quiet, you might be able to delay an amp purchase for a bit.

BTW... I’m learning a lesson: “quality” audio files go a long way to my listening enjoyment. What type of audio files are you listening to?

I’m curious what you decide to do.  Keep us in the loop about your decision, eh. @Akadis .
