Toshiba Satellite L550: SSHD/SSD upgrade

mudcakez

Hey guys, I'm looking to upgrade my old Toshiba Satellite L550 with a new drive as this thing is bonkers slow. I will most likely be going for a Seagate 500gb SSHD purely because I will need the storage capacity, but I was just curious as to the performance difference between SSHDs and SSDs. Would there be a significant gap in speed or would it be barely noticeable as this laptop is quite old?

An SSHD is a small amount of NAND cache which your most used programs are on. While the SDD is only NAND flash. The SSHD will still be faster than the HDD but not nearly as fast a SSD.
