Buying friends old rig

Go to solution Solved by Jaminahat,

Look into the parts that you want and build your own... Yeah you won't have a computer right now but you will have one that you built and with parts that YOU wanted.

The $300 that this is probably worth is probably much better in going towards a new system than buying this older system that will probably still struggle on a lot of newer games for sure.

There are plenty of videos on the LTT YouTube channel that show PC builds at various price points. I'm not sure what your money situation is but IMO it would definitely be worth the wait to get something more future-proof.

So i have a friend who got a new pc and im considering buying his old rig. Image shows the specs.

Whats the value of this and is it worth buying(most worried about the cpu)

I play pubg and csgo on my laptop atm (low res, low settings and low fps :p)

Would this run those games. (i know the gpu can run them)

Depends, what do you have right now?

The FX4300 is quite bad CPU. It is worth about $60 when bundled with a motherboard.

The RAM is the slowest 1600MHz DDR3 kit I have ever seen but its good enough.

GTX 960 is OK for 1080p Medium/Low, performance wise it should sit between the GTX 1050 and 1050ti.

The SSDs are nice.

Like $300

I would say more like 450

500gb ssd = 120

250gb ssd = 90

16gb ram = 50

Gtx 960 = 150

If you consider resale value

yeah the SSD's are nice, the GTX 960 is okay, the CPU is just depressing, so yeah like 350 USD is what I would pay
