16 gigs of RAM is over kill. 8 gigs will be fine I think.

And storage, 250 GBs of space will not be enough especially if you will be doing some video editing. Pick up a 1TB HDD.

16 gigs is perfectly fine. It's not overkill, a little extra never hurts. I do however agree on the extra storage.

It will crush mot things pretty hard :)

Ok (: On my system I've never seen a reason to upgrade to 16GBs of RAM and I figured it would be a waste of money buying more if I never used it

GPU: get the asus DCU2! Better components on the PCB with which you are able to achieve better OCs. Also you are than able to use GPU Hotwire by asus to easily overvolt your GPU.

Fans: better get some NF-F12 (the are static pressure optimized so you get better temps on your rads.

PSU: get a corsair RM! Also Gold and much more silent. But 750W is fine for this build

Case: nice I am getting one for Xmas

RAM: 1600mhz are the sweet spot but 1866 is better for sure. Due you will not notice it in games.

4GB= Ok but nah...

8GB= perfect for gaming

16= BOOM good for some time

>16= Overkill for gaming

CPU: only gaming on this PC? perfect!

Video editing and stuff? Go i7

SSD: Best one out there is the 840 Evo

MOBO: overkill but so damn sexy and cool.

But for OCing the right thing to throw your CPU on

Hope I helped

I'd go with this build or something very close. $500 should actually be enough to get you started watercooling the CPU and the 780 Lightning already has incredible cooling :P

You can grab a good watercooling kit like this while still being under budget, then add more parts as you go :)

going with the 120mm fans i would have to get smaller rads yes? I held a 280mm up to the case and it fits perfect on the front bay best fit i have found on a case. can i use the f12 fans on a 280 mm rad?

Im checking out those gpu now thank you

I am thinking about the exact same thing here for my own PC. But I personally would never throw airflow fans on a rad. It will yust perform

Very poor.

Expectably with big rads. I'll mout a 60mm rad in the top of the 750D. Airflow fans will simply not be able to push the air through that fat rad...

I thought about getting those cosair SP fans (140mm). But the make much more noise than the noctua ones.

And on some radiators you ate able to mount 120 fans on 140 rads. But it is ultra silly to do that... You will not use your extra 20mm rad space so you can directly put a 120 rad with 120fans in your build

Ghost is like the go-to person for watercooling, he lives in the watercooling section basically, and knows pretty much everything there is to know about it.

Um, you'd have to get 140mm fans for the 280mm radiators, noctua has some called nf-a14

Am

The asus one is better but the MSI is really enough.

Be happy and say thanks to your buddy and get more SSD a sound card or simply save it up for a second GPU (which will than require a 850w psu)

The vi hero would be better, better build quality IMO.

If it's cheap/free take it :P
