So level 1 news, the last tech news show I'm aware of that still used the 1hour+ format is giving into the youtube algorithm overlord and switching to episodic releases. Fun fact, it seems the switch and title have confused the algorithm a little, so it showed some rather interesting suggestions:

I really have no idea why so many like to make their computer screens pitch black.

white background on everything actually hurts my eyes.  i change everything to night theme to have better contrast that isnt physically painful

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

It's more of a dark grey.
White backgrounds actually strain your eyes, especially when staring for long period of time.

But some of us are just more sensitive to it than others. While you may have no issues with it now, it may come later in life.(especially if you're in your teens right now)

Personally, looking at a white background is like looking at the sun for me, too bright for comfort, so I quite enjoy darker color themes for websites/OS.(and yes, I totally wear sunglasses even when it's cloudy outside)

What everybody else said. Also use a blue-light filter to not fuck up my circadian rhythm. And even though it's not a huge amount, a dark theme also lowers the power consumption if you have dynamic backlight on.
