Does Anyone Play Paradox Games? What system setup do you run for them?

One of my favorite genres is grand strategy, and nobody does it better than Paradox with titles such as Cities: Skylines, Hearts of Iron 4, Europa Universalis 4, etc. My system can run them fine at 1080p with an i7-6500u (Laptop processor) and a GTX 950M, but I was wondering what setups those of you who play these games run to achieve optimum performance as I know they can get extremely taxing on your processor in the late-game. Also, what are your favorite mods to run? I love Kaiserreich in HOI4 as it is an even better experience than the base-game.

You mostly just want the fastest single-threaded CPU. They have made their games a little more threaded over time, but as long as you have at least a quad core it's the singlethreaded performance that determines performance.

I've been running mostly vanilla in recent years, but planning to get into a Game of Thrones multiplayer campaign in CK2 soon, which should be fun.
