What are actual pitfalls or disadvantages to PC gaming?

Ghostsquidy

For me

More expensive

Irritating with a computer with more than 1 Hard drive or SSD

Errors that are a jumble of numbers with no info

Games just not working anymore

None of these issues i have on my Xbone or PS3

These are the disadvantages to PC gaming that I can see:

1) More expensive

2) More cheaters (in my experience)

3) Less AAA exclusives

4) Sometimes there are complications with running a game, say the game may be a pc port and you need to patch it, the controls may be optimized for a controller etc.

Lol @Tungsten not even trying to hide your bias, your reactions alone show it

I love PC gaming, and it's basically all the gaming I do now. But that doesn't mean I can't admit that there are clear advantages to console gaming.

For equal performance to a console, both new, with peripherals of equivalent quality, it is cheaper to get a console. That's just a fact.
There is less work involved in using a console for gaming. Period.
There are many AAA exclusives, and they often get more attention/dev time (shitty ports generally go from console to pc).

You know what, I listed this shit already. And everyone knows it...

Many or all of these advantages can be negated by
- being willing to spend more for something better

- finding value in the other tasks PCs perform
- not playing a lot of AAA titles

- liking the control of hardware you get with a PC

And I embrace those ideas every day. but that doesn't stop me from admitting the former.

Main Rig: R9 5950X @ PBO, RTX 3090, 64 GB DDR4 3666, InWin 101, Full Hardline Watercooling

Server: R7 1700X @ 4.0 GHz, GTX 1080 Ti, 32GB DDR4 3000, Cooler Master NR200P, Full Soft Watercooling

LAN Rig: R5 3600X @ PBO, RTX 2070, 32 GB DDR4 3200, Dan Case A4-SFV V4, 120mm AIO for the CPU

HTPC: i7-7700K @ 4.6 GHz, GTX 1050 Ti, 16 GB DDR4 3200, AliExpress K39, IS-47K Cooler

Router: R3 2200G @ stock, 4GB DDR4 2400, what are cases, stock cooler

I don't have a problem...
