buy 3tb drive , it's like $50 CAD more

buy a 850 evo, reliability and longevity for an ssd, should be a ONE time purchase over a decade (an ssd, my kingston 3k is dying on me and it's only been 4 years with 2 years of usage)

Ryzen 5 3600 stock | 2x16GB C13 3200MHz (AFR) | GTX 760 (Sold the VII)| ASUS Prime X570-P | 6TB WD Gold (128MB Cache, 2017)

Samsung 850 EVO 240 GB

138 is a good number.

i don't need 3 tb of storage, not worth the extra money and i already have a seperate 1 tb external HDD

i only play cs and do some video editing.

  • Buy matched sets of RAM, not individual sticks.
  • The NZXT motherboard is grossly overpriced, get something else.
  • Get at least a 240GB SSD, they get better performance than smaller drives.
  • Don't bother getting a 770 for that price, at least pony up a little more money and grab something like a 970.
  • Why do you want an 8700k? If you're gaming, the 8600k is just as good.
  • Use PCPartPicker when making build lists.

If you don't already have a GPU just get a Ryzen APU build going and save the rest of your money for a GTX 2070 or above or the Vega refresh

  • They're tested prior to sale, so they're going to work together; some RAM can be temperamental.

  • There is a small chance that individual memory sticks will not work in dual channel mode.
  • -
  • Get the largest ssd that will fit in the budget. Ideally it will be large enough so you won't need an hdd.
  • -
  • You might consider going with an i7-8700. It doesn't need a lot of cooling and has performance close to that of a stock i7-8700K. This will free up some budget for other things. Like a better psu and/or larger ssd.
  • Either post the Permalink or click the [bb] button and copy & paste the result. See the tool bar above the build list.

voltage regulator modules, converts power for your cpu. having weak vrms mean you won't be able to overclock as well.
