Hey everyone,

I am planning a new build, mostly for fps gaming. My location is Romania.
My budget is not fixed, since this build is going to be a work in progress for the next two to three months. Maybe something around 2000 USD, but it is flexible.

CPU: Intel 4770K (Planning to OC.)
Motherboard: Asus Maximus VI Hero
RAM: ...not yet decided, for the time being I will be using my current RAM, Corsair Vengeance LP 8GB 1600MHz
GPU: MSI GTX 760 Hawk 2 way SLI (I already have one in my system.)
Case: Fractal Design Arc Midi R2
PSU: Corsair AX860 (My current PSU.)
SSD: Samsung 840 Pro 256GB
Cooler: Corsair H110 (Planning to fit it in the front of the case.)
Fans: 6 Noctua NF-A14 FLX

Any ideas, suggestions are well received :)
Thanks!

Sell your 760 and get a better single GPU solution.

But my 760 is overclocked to perform 80-90% as well as a stock 770.

From what I found in reviews, two 760 will perform almost as well as a 780 / 780 Ti, depending on the game, sometimes performing slightly better, sometimes slightly worse. Plus, the two cards will be cheaper then the single 780 or 780 Ti.

Looks good.

What shops are you using?

I am using these:

www.pcgarage.ro

www.cel.ro

www.emag.ro

www.edigital.ro

The shops don't use dollars. What's your actual budget?

Which shop is the best? Or are they all equally good?

My budget is approximately 6500 RON (~ 2000 URD).

cell.ro is the best, in my oppinion.

edigital.ro, has some of the components for lower prices, but overall product availability is more restricted.

Alright.

What are your current specs? There may be more parts you can reuse.

GPU: MSI GTX 760 Hawk

Case: ...some ancient, 11 year old case

Have you overclocked the cpu yet? The 750K oc's like a dream. You can quite easily hit 4.5 ghz with the 212 Evo.

What are you upgrading for?

I'd personally just get a ssd and a new case.

Yes, I have overclocked my 750K to 4 GHz, at 1.28V, and I know I can probably get more out of it, with better cooling, and a well ventilated case.

I am upgrading to be able to SLI two GTX 760's, since my current motherboard doesn't support it. The other reason is that I want a PC that will last, without any more upgrades possibly till spring / summer of 2015, and be good for upcoming games, at very high / ultra settings.

I want to SLI because my MSI GTX 760 Hawk, with overclock, performs almost as good as a stock GTX 770, and I am really pleased with it, and I like it :)

I need an SLI compatible motherboard, but I want one with room to breathe between the two graphics cards. I always wanted an Asus ROG motherboard, so I thought now is a good time to get one. The Maximus VI Extreme would be overkill, and overpriced, the Formula would also be overkill, and I don't like the ROG armor design, and in the Gene the two graphics cards would be right next to each other, so I'm left with the Hero.

Only 4 ghz? Push the cpu more. You have an A85 mobo after all.

Is the 760 not enough? It's pretty powerful already. If you don't immediately need more power, just stick with a single gpu and upgrade when you need to. Tech will get better anc cheaper with time and options are better later when you actually do need to upgrade.

I will try to get more performance from my CPU once I have the new case and cooling. I will buy a new case, CPU cooler and SSD for this Christmas, and then play around with the overclocks a little, see what I can achieve.

The 760 is sort of enough, but not 100%: in some games, like Crysis 3, Far Cry 3, Metro Last Light, there was a significant performance drop when AA was turned up, and this is only at 1600 x 1050. I have to see what performance will be like on a 1080p monitor, and then I will make my final decision to get a second GPU, and the new motherboard + CPU to go along with it, or not.

Thank you very much for all your advice! :)

Alright. A 212 Evo should be plenty. Change to a better looking one if you feel like it.

If you're upgrading the gpu, I'd see if you can sell the 760 and get 780/290 after seeing how aftermarket 290's fare.

I'd put some money to a new monitor--preferably a nice IPS panel. You would run slightly lower settings but it would still look better at a higher resolution.
