i don't see how getting 4 extra cores with 12 threads is considered a sidegrade.

CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Heatsink: Gelid Phantom Black GPU: Palit RTX 3060 Ti Dual RAM: Corsair DDR4 2x8GB 3000Mhz mobo: Asus X570-P case: Fractal Design Define C PSU: Superflower Leadex Gold 650W

Would be more interested with the OC results since the 3570k should be able to get 4.5/4.6ghz no problem which might bring it near or higher then the ryzen in single threaded workloads.

and the question is?

Ryzen 5700g @ 4.4ghz all cores | Asrock B550M Steel Legend | 3060 | 2x 16gb Micron E 2666 @ 4200mhz cl16 | 500gb WD SN750 | 12 TB HDD | Deepcool Gammax 400 w/ 2 delta 4000rpm push pull | Antec Neo Eco Zen 500w

Because single threaded performance still matters, like a lot.

ryzen's IPC is on-par with haswell and broadwell.

I would, but B75 doesn't support overclocking. Unfortunately I started with a budget build that only included a dual core and then bought the unlocked 3570 for $15 more thinking I'd eventually upgrade to a different board. By the time I had discretionary income a lot of the Z77 boards online, without risking pre-owned on ebay, had jumped in price. And if I bought a new board I'd have to sell the old one. It was easier to simply adopt a new system and pass down the old one.

Don't forget to overclock your RAM too. Quite a few 2666 kits will happily OC to around 3000 Mhz.
