I've currently got a system with Core I5-3570K on an MSI Z77 MPower motherboard with 8GB DDR3.  From what I've found, the 3570K is still comparable in performance to even the 8th gen i5's so I'm curios if I should keep what I have and just upgrade to 16GB and a newer video card (660TI currently).  Just looking for some advice on what I should do.

If you are happy with the performance level you are at I see no reason for you to upgrade unless you really wanted to in which I'd keep the your current motherboard and just upgrade the CPU to an i7 3770K.

The thing to ask when upgrading is, "Does my system do what I need it to do?", or "Do I need more performance?". If you're like me I'll probably always say yes to the latter. If you system is doing what you want it to do now, save up your money, and when you need a proper upgrade, then you will have money to get yourself a really nice system hopefully.

I hope this helps!

Just strap a used 980 or 970 with it and you should be good (probably new PSU as well)

Also 3570k is nowhere near an 8th gen i5 when paired with a top notch GPU, but with a mid-range card there wont be any difference.

does the PC do what you want it too? if yes then dont spend the money on upgrades

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

#3. There is nothing "wrong" with being wrong. Learning from a mistake can be more valuable than not making one in the first place.
