So the advice I keep hearing is use auto notify to get graphics cards at MSRP. But it seams like MSRP is inflated now. Evga has 1050ti starting at $239. That's $100 More than  launch. How does auto notify help?

MSRP is $139 for that particular card.

Retail price these days due to the GPU shortage and supply and demand, is $239

People praised BTC for crashing, but as shown BTC can collapse to $0.01 per coin it ain't going to fix the issue...

Its still profitable to mine with a gpu. But your right of bitcoin went away, there are other coins to take its place. Even if crypto currency isn't a real thing, people are still making money from it.

Its grown to a point that the big players will do something to keep it going. Legal or otherwise. The greed and lust for money is like an addictive drug. People have too much invested to just let it all go away

What I mean is if I was to buy one it was going to be more expensive than what the site stated on top of the sites price.

Crypto is a real thing, it's value on the other hand not so much. I mine for fun with my 1070 while others want to print money, and that's the issue with crypto is people look at it as printing money. There might become a time where GPU prices come back down but that likely won't happen any time soon.

To me crypto could/will be the future of currency transactions, instead of paying banks billions we pay users billions to secure a transaction. This whole individual coin thing is annoying except for Dogecoin :P Long live that coin, all others can go straight to hell.

What is more annoying than crypto destroying the GPU market, it's these topics complaining about it... Demand goes up, price goes up, demand goes down, prices level off but not always go back to normal, live with it it's supply and demand. If OP can't afford it save a little longer, cards have more or less hit their top price people are willing to pay (at least to lower end ones like the 1050).

If OP looked at card prices 2 years prior to release vs what they are getting now it's a steal even at $240...

Which btw you can pick up a used 980 for about the same price.

I wasn't complaining. I was trying to figure out the strategy of using auto notify. Some people retort having success with that.

Yes technology advances. What's your point? Right now this is an entry level card. Those have always been between $120 and $150. That's what this card should be. Just because it's more powerful than previous entry level cards doesn't mean I should happy to pay inflated prices if there is a way to get it for less.

Auto notify most people were using where for newegg since most in stock items are from 3rd parties trying to make a profit higher than selling price.

My point was for the power when you compare it to a 600+ GPU 2 years earlier from its release the pricing is the same. Imagine being the person who spent 600+ on a card now can be picked up for less than half the price. Also just because the retail is 120-150 with current issues be happy it's been cut off at below $300, and that's only because of profitability won't permit it to go higher.

https://www.nicehash.com/profitability-calculator/nvidia-gtx-1050-ti?e=0.1&currency=USD

While you shouldn't be happy for paying a inflated price I do agree with you there, but if that's what others are willing to pay then your say is meaningless isn't it? They sell to those who are wanting and willing to pay for the product, not to those who want the cheapest MRSP 100% of the time... Plus the Manufacture is saying it's $240 right now so technically it's MRSP $240 regardless what the "introductory price" was.

But I gave you a option to not support manufactures pricing practices with the 980, take it or buy a 1050 Ti or wait. No one will stop you from your choice, nor can anyone give you any advice on pricing in these situations. Yes auto notify works, but it works only as well as long as they get stock in at your wished price, which seems to be going to be never.
