Macbook pro vs xps 13?

So my parents have always got my brothers and sisters mac-books for college and now its my turn. They say its better and macs dont get viruses and will last longer compared to windows laptops.Basically they think windows laptops will get viruses easily and break. I know this is garbage but is their any validity in the statement that macs dont get viruses? I was thinking of getting the xps 13 instead or maybe the new one with the thinner bezels. The macbooks dont even have 8th gen processors yet and I imagine in 2018 they will bump up the price. Thoughts on the everything I said and how to convince my parents on this one as my entire family buys everything apple and I am the lone exception who never usually buys apple.

Viruses exist on everything, they are just exponentially less common on Macs. 

 

There is truth in the statement that “Macs don’t get viruses” only in that they occupy so little of the market that nobody makes viruses for them. 

 

I would still get a MacBook Pro seeing as it’s a better all around computer if you ask me. 

 

Better trackpad, Speakers, build quality, and looks.

Running 4K on an iGPU is just asking for trouble if you ask me.

I will keep it short. I the first laptop I actually used was a macbook pro. I used it for over 10 years and just now is the CPU starting to show it's age. It drops frames in 1080p 60FPS content and the battery life is around 3 hours. Last year I bought an alienware R5 15in laptop to replace it. It was light years more powerful on paper and had 7 hour battery life but in the end I hated it. It was thicker than my macbook pro, the trackpad was better on my macbook pro, the screen was sub par in colors and bezels, and it was running windows. You are going to pay much more for a macbook but trust me it is totally worth it. The XPS might looking inviting with 4K touch and quad cores but it will last half as long as a macbook. Mainly due to apple continuing to support it and the optimization that goes on.

Macbook Pro 13 inch, why?

 

Superb build quality, great thermal, great speakers, great audio quality on headphone jack, great screen quality (both resolution and color), great battery, godly trackpad that makes using mouse obsolete and most of all, great software optimization that can lasts you for years.

 

The XPS 13 is better in terms of spec, but with the shitty Windows optimization, it can only go so far

 

But if you want a laptop right now, I suggest buying used or refurbished. Else wait for summer, that's when Apple will introduce Macbook Pro 13 inch 2018 with quad-core CPU
