would a 2012 HP Compaq desktop motherboard (one with a 32-bit AMD Sempron 150 processor and no gpu) be able to use this gear?

  • MINIMUM:
    • Requires a 64-bit processor and operating system
    • OS: Windows Vista SP2 or newer, 64-bit
    • Processor: Intel Haswell 2 cores / 4 threads @ 2.5Ghz or equivalent
    • Memory: 4 GB RAM
    • Graphics: Intel HD 4600 or equivalent - This includes most GPUs scoring greater than 950 points in the 3DMark Fire Strike benchmark
    • DirectX: Version 11
    • Storage: 20 GB available space

heck.

No. Intel and AMD CPUs are not cross-compatible.

You mean use Haswell dual core and HD4600? Nope. You need a new mobo and new CPU for these.

That said, The AM3 socket mobo could potentially use Phenom 2 x6 CPUs, something that's still relevant today. Just look up the supported CPU list of this PC from the manufacturer's site.

For graphics, even used 750ti will beat that HD4600's ass

ive got my eyes on one of these https://www.evga.com/products/product.aspx?pn=02G-P3-2732-RX   (EVGA Nvidia GeForce GT 730 2GB Low Profile), would that be acceptable?

Still pathetic.

Look ether for a used HD 78xx or HD 79xx card, or maybe something from the GTX 700 or 900 series. In either case, higher numbers are better. Unless, well, what’s your budget?

The Sempron 150 is a 32bit processor.  The list of hardware requirements you've listed very clearly says it requires a 64bit OS and CPU.  If the game (That looks like a Steam screen shot) requires 64bit then a 32bit CPU won't work, period.

eh, around 200 smackaroos USD (although id rather keep it near $150)

heck.

You could try for a GTX 1050 but with the current market I’d highly recommend a used card.

Why are you suggesting GPUs when he has a 32bit CPU and the system reqs say it requires 64bit?  You could put a GTX 1080ti in there and the game still won't run with a 32bit CPU. D:

I uhh

I might’ve forgotten that 32 bit CPUs existed.

Actually, looking up the actual CPU, it is 64bit... So why does the OP state it's 32bit?

Though if they're using a 64bit CPU with a 32bit OS, they'll still need to upgrade to a 64bit OS.

I'd honestly want to try for the cheapest usable card for those requirements and something low profile doubt a full card would fit in a horizontal case and I REALLY want to keep the case it doesn't take up desk space and it's honestly kinda fancy

heck.

Also after doing a bit of remembering, isn’t it a single core CPU?

Overall though, an upgrade to what, a Phenom X4/X6 would be welcome too.

Wow, yeah.  Single Core, Single Thread.  That CPU outright won't play that game if it requires a dual core Intel from much later.

Maybe the OP can upgrade the CPU but we'd need more information on the mobo/system cause that can involve firmware updates and the right chipsets and that whole mess.

would I be able to fit the gear in a horizontal case? (wouldn't mind having to get a new horizontal case though)

Can you explain what the 'Gear' is?  That image you posted is a list of hardware REQUIREMENTS not a list of hardware specs for a machine.  It's a list of stuff you NEED, at minimum, not a list of what you HAVE.

i use "gear" loosely, both stuff I have and stuff i'm getting

Right, so, we need to know WHAT YOU HAVE.  Like model numbers.  It's a Compaq so it should have an actual model number that can be used to look up specs.  Saying "2012 HP Compaq desktop motherboard" is about as useful as saying "How many passengers can you fit in a 2012 Ford Vehicle?"  Is it a two door pickup?  A car?  A minivan?  All we can tell from 'Vehicle' is 'It probably has wheels and an engine'.
